Algerian Yacine Brahimi named BBC African footballer of the year

Yacine Brahimi became today the first Algerian to win the BBC African Footballer of the year . Porto’s midfielder realized a great season and deserved well this trophy . The 24 year old player helped his national team in the last World Cup to reach the second round . He’s actually considered as FC Porto’s most valuable player according to the fans .

In an interview with BBC Sport , the player said the following : “It’s a big honour for me to receive this wonderful trophy. I owe it to my country, Algeria, and to all the people who voted for me. It’s also a trophy for the whole of Africa, because it rewards an African player. So I am really very happy.”
