Domestic violence has been on the increase in the continent. Some end up in a very bad way while others get out alive. The sad story is that many still live in it.
There had been little or no support available for victims of domestic violence in Africa but there is a lot of awareness been created around issues of domestic violence.
It would be easy to say that our community frowns at domestic violence but there has been cases of a son been urged on by his mother to 'discipline' an erring wife. Cases of brothers helping their sister 'teach' the husband a lesson. Other cases of consistent spousal been ignored by neighbours because they 'want to mind their business'.
All in all, domestic violence in any form is a no no and shouldnt have a place in the African community.
