Going to the Kenyan Sondeka Festival?
WHAT IS SONDEKA FESTIVAL?
The word ‘Sondeka’ is a Sheng (Kenyan urban colloquial) word meaning “to make” or “create”. And true creation comes when people are free to express themselves and that is what the Sondeka Festival is all about. It is three explosive days from 18th to 20th October 2014, of creation, curation, innovation, fun, games, music, dance, till you drop, just people expressing themselves freely.
Sondeka Festival is the only place you’ll get to watch Kenya’s award winning films courtesy of the Kenya Film Commission, attend a masquerade party, and observe robotics and technological innovations in action, see new creations on the catwalk, and attend a Zumba, Yoga and Salsa class all for the price of one season ticket at only 1,500 shillings, its non-stop-till-you drop-from-pure-bliss.
There will be talks by leading innovators and creatives on blogging, creative enterprise, tech innovation and techpreneurship, photography and more. And for the kids, they’ll have so much fun you’ll have to peel them away from the fun games, music, arts, crafts; the list is endless. If you want to spur the innate gifting of your child; Sondeka Festival is the place.
Sondeka Festival runs a very unique model. All events run concurrently at various venues within the Ngong Racecourse. We are expecting over 5,000 people from all walks of life present to celebrate, curate, create, engage, purchase, and support the creative ingenuity of art, mechanics and technology in all their facets.
