Miss Tanzania's reign comes to a sudden end after age falsfication saga

Newly-crowned Miss Tanzania, Sitti Mtemvu, poses with first runner-up Lillian Kamazima (right) and second runner-up Jihan Dimachk, during the beauty pageant held in Dar es Salaam.

2014 Miss Tanzania Sitti Mtemvu, has relinquished her throne after a month long debate of her actual age and allegations of age falsification forced her reign to a sudden end.

The competition requires the contestants to be within the lower and higher age brackets of 18 and 24 but Miss Mtemvu while introducing herself on stage on the day of the competition claimed to be 18years.Those who knew her were shocked at her claims and upon further investigation, it was found out that supporting documents for her Tanzanian International Passport showed she was born on May 31st 1989 and so did her State of Texas driving licence.
Age falsification has suddenly become a come trend for African footballers and beauty queens. The absence of official state held records of births in most African nations has encouraged this trend.
