Holding African leaders responsible for the actions while in government

Many world leaders are covered by diplomatic immunity for actions taken while in power. African leaders clinging to this immunity commit lots of atrocities and when the reality of their actions dawn on them towards the end of their tenure, they start craving for an extension to their hold on power. Before long, they become life leaders of their nation.

The recent prosecution of the Kenyan President in the International Criminal Court of Justice was commendable and more commendable was the action of President Uhuru Kenyatta who took on the responsibility of attending as an independent to answer to charges of crimes against humanity that was brought against him.

Though the case has hit a stalemate, his actions are exemplary and should be emulated by other leaders. This will serve as a check to the abuse of power by people in power.
