The channel was launched at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi and was attended by key stakeholders in the industry including filmmakers, producers, actors and even government, which was represented by Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i. In his speech, he insisted that the government was ready to continue the current support of local talent and arts and recognized that the new channel will play a huge role in uniting East Africans.
Speaking on behalf of Mnet East Africa, the regional director Mr. Michael Ndetei said the launch of the channel was a show of confidence in the talent and capacity that East Africans have and that they will continue to invest in the industry to ensure we can play on the global level.
