Have we as Africans always been materialist? Pre colonisation, Africans were known to measure wealth and riches by no of land acquired, herds, crop produce, children and wives. Is this where our quest for acquisition started?
This week saw a number of publications in the media on top richest African pastors and Presidents but its worthy to note that both roles are meant to be acquired by modest people. As a matter of fact, the people mentioned on these listed were said to have amassed their wealth while occupying their position as head of a church or a nation.
Our question today is - are Africans naturally materialist or do there leader become greedy on the job?

Man is a materialist being. I don't think race has anything to do with it,
