The
Moroccan government have called for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations to be postponed
due to the deadly threat of Ebola.
They have
lodged an appeal with the Confederation of African Football - the organisers of
the competition - to delay the event.
The
competition is scheduled to be held in the North African country in 2015, from
January 17 to February 8.
A number
of Premier League stars would be due to attend, including the likes of Manchester
City star Yaya Toure, Stoke's Victor Moses, Swansea's Wilfried Bony
and Newcastle's Papiss Cisse.
Morocco's
health ministry have made the plea, "to avoid events which involve those
countries affected by the Ebola virus," according to a Government
statement.
More than
4,000 people have died during the Ebola epidemic, which broke out in west
Africa at the start of the year.
