In the past, the act of raising a child was as much a communal responsibility as it was a family resposibilty. The rationale behind it is that if the child turns out right, its to the good of all.
At the moment, its almost impossible to correct a child that isnt yours as the parents come out very defensive thinking that correcting their ward is a way of criticizing their parenting skills.
The question is - are children turining out better now than in the past when almost everyone had a contribution during their formative years?
