The ideal concept of marriage in Africa is for better for worse. Divorce wasnt tolerated for any reason and many were left to endure tense and loveless marriages for fear of the stigma associated with divorce.
The modern day African seems to have less tolerance and far less patience to deal with the turmoil associated with marriage leading to a rise in the number of marriages failing in our community. The main factors that put pressure on the marriages are financial, extra marital and external (coming from extending family, friends and peer pressure). At other times, couples drift apart and in other cases they find out that they were outrightly incompatible.
The question is - Is our society becoming more tolerant to divorce?

There is still a considerable level of stigma associated to divorce especially for African women.
